Why health AI interfaces must adapt to user expertise
MIT researchers and collaborators found that health AI explainability tools can produce different outcomes based on user expertise. In a skin-disease diagnosis study, non-experts improved accuracy mainly by deferring to the model, while primary care providers showed a different performance pattern.
