Researchers let Claude Code discover AI scaling algorithms that humans probably wouldn't have designed

Researchers from UMD, Google, Meta, and other institutions used AutoTTS to have a coding agent discover control algorithms for AI reasoning. The resulting method cut compute by about 70% versus standard self-consistency while matching accuracy, at a search cost of about $40 and 160 minutes.
