Reclaiming Social Engineering for Good
The article traces the history of “social engineering” from early reform efforts aimed at improving workplaces and society to later uses by authoritarian regimes, scammers, and corporations. It argues the term should also cover beneficial efforts to shape human behavior and be governed more carefully.
