Readers rate AI-generated short stories higher than human ones until they learn a machine wrote them
A study of more than 2,500 participants found they could not reliably distinguish ChatGPT-generated short stories from human-written ones. Participants initially rated the AI-generated stories higher, but ratings fell after they were told the stories were machine-written.
