OpenAI gives GPT-5.5 Instant a readability upgrade while phasing out two older models
OpenAI is updating GPT-5.5 Instant to produce more natural responses and removing the Canvas feature, moving writing and coding tasks directly into chat. The company will retire the older o3 and GPT-4.5 models from ChatGPT, with both shutting down by August 2026 at the latest.
