Claude Code sends 33k tokens before reading the prompt; OpenCode sends 7k
A small study comparing Claude Code and OpenCode logged requests to Anthropic’s endpoint and found Claude Code sent substantially more tokens before reading prompts. The analysis attributed the difference to less efficient cache usage and harness token overhead.
