Claude Code's complicated China problem involves bans on both sides of the Pacific
Anthropic is trying to restrict Chinese companies, including ByteDance and Ant Financial, from using Claude Code, but some are bypassing the limits through VPNs and overseas subsidiaries. Alibaba has also banned employee use of the tool after hidden code was reportedly found that could identify Chinese users.
