Beijing's $295 billion AI buildout would require 80 percent domestic chips, locking out US suppliers
China plans to invest about $295 billion over five years in a nationwide AI data center network, with at least 80 percent of the technology sourced from domestic suppliers such as Huawei. Taiwan is also considering making AI chip smuggling to China a criminal offense.
